The End of Animal Testing in China?

Being a cruelty free shopper has always been a bit of a burden, having to Google products and ingredients is very time consuming, but all that could soon be a lot easier thanks to China changing its law on animal testing.

As I'm sure most of you know, if a cosmetics company wish to sell their products in China they have to, by law, allow their products to be tested on animals. This has previously meant that some companies have pulled out of the Chinese market altogether because they wish to keep their cruelty free status, but other companies that you would think are cruelty free have lost their status because the Chinese market is so lucrative and they've chosen money over morals.

A few hours ago it was announced that the animal testing law has been changed, meaning that it is no longer a necessity to test products in order to sell in China. This could mean huge things in the future, some of the big offenders (L'Oreal I'm looking at you) may change their practises.

Only time will tell what this means for the big umbrella companies, but this is a huge step in the right direction. Congratulations to everyone that had a hand in making this change possible, it really is a huge victory.
